In the late summer of 2010, two best friends joined together to bring a dream to life. In their own words, the founders say that because“jewelry represents a piece of beauty that holds meaning and moments, and can be passed down to generations,” the plan was to “create a space inspired by travel that would inspire love, humanity and connection.” the name bluboho was chosen as an expression of two essential intentions: ‘blu’ denotes our connection to the sea, the sky, to nature and to each other, a colour that captures life’s limitless possibilities, while ‘boho’—short for bohemian—celebrates our free-spirit, lust for life and for adventures.

By September 2010, bluboho had officially been incorporated as a company. A thrilling moment for any business owner, incorporation was the moment we knew that bluboho would be a life-long journey built on the foundation of love and adventure.

In the fall of 2010, we started ordering pieces from our favourite designers from all over the world. We hosted modest but thriving trunk shows in our favourite yoga studio, and it was then that we realized that there was already a strong community of people who felt connected to our pieces.

On March 1st 2011, bluboho opened the doors of its first brick and mortar store in Oakville, Ontario. All the members of our growing bluboho family pitched in to make the store’s space just as whimsical and welcoming as the as jewelry now stocking its shelves. Folks who frequent the bustling stretch of Lakeshore Road that makes up Oakville’s historic downtown will tell you that the store continues to be a staple for locals to mark the moments of their lives with fine jewelry pieces that will last for generations.

May 2013: we moved to the big city. Looking to expand our movement of love and connection, bluboho opened its second store in May of 2013 in Toronto, Ontario on Yonge Street. To this day, our Yonge location continues to be a loving member of the Midtown community.

By September 2014 bluboho had truly come into its own and we felt that we had found our voice. It was time to launch our very own collection. Part of this core line of fine jewelry was our first original piece: the luna jacket, a timeless classic which celebrates new beginnings and the realization of our goals.

In August of 2016, we launched our own collection of engagement pieces, the affectionately named beloved collection. The beloved by bluboho engagement ring line holds the same dedication to quality and ethical materials as our core collection, featuring conflict-free diamonds and gemstones and recycled gold. Our team of in-house designers hand-select each gem for whatever it is that makes that stone extraordinary. This allows our guests to pick from a range of unique gemstones which feature a multitude of vibrant hues and inimitable textures that are as unique as the stories and moments that they are made to celebrate.

Also in August 2016, bluboho opened its third location on Queen Street West in Toronto, Ontario. For decades Queen Street West has attracted artists and adventurous souls from all around the globe, and our experience of this historic street has been no different. Our Queen team prides itself on connecting both travelers and locals to the pieces that will mark a new part of their Toronto journey.

While nothing beats the joy of an in-person connection, by the summer of 2016 we knew that we were ready to connect with folks no matter where life had taken them. With an online presence, we’ve been able to touch lives and tell stories through jewelry all over the world, teaching us that love always conquers distance.

In the autumn of 2018, Drew and Maggie stepped their leadership at Bluboho and began to work together in order to throw all of their love and energy behind leading bluboho into the future.

October 2019 welcomed a most precious new member to the bluboho family: our co-founder Maggie + her husband Drew had a baby! A journey like no other, both parents will tell you that bringing this beautiful boy into the world has redefined the fundamental meaning of love in their lives.

In the winter of 2019, bluhoho opened its signature pop-up shop in Square One Shopping Centre. Being a part of this lively and cheerful was an amazing way to connect with people from far and wide, spreading our holiday cheer further than ever before.

A female-founded company, bluboho has now grown to a team of over 20 members who host its three brick and mortar stores and online store. In February 2020, bluboho continues to prove that with a strong company culture based on love, connection and humanity, each person who passes through bluboho is given an opportunity to grow, learn, and develop as a human within their time with the company.
