dear bluboho: the lioness

IMG_8523 at bluboho, we are lucky gals. when we spend time with our wonderful guests, we get to hear the most amazing stories. we would like to share this recent guest experience. it gives us goosebumps to read it! what do you think your spirit animal is? xo

dear bluboho, I always thought that elephants were my spirit animal. I love them. So I was expecting to be very touched/moved/emotional when I saw them in the wild during a safari in South Africa. Don't get me wrong - it was amazing. They're beautiful creatures. After seeing the elephants, I really, really wanted to see lions. Those animals were my top two. That very afternoon, we spotted three female lions and a baby lion. We watched them from a bit of a distance and then got closer. We didn't notice the third female lion behind the car. Eventually someone called out that she was there and we stopped the truck to let her walk by. Very unexpectedly, I started to cry. Seeing the lioness made me realize who my spirit animal really is - lions. They were so beautiful, words can't describe. The lioness I fell in love with was absolutely incredible. Her eyes were intense, but her walk was relaxed. She was wild, but I couldn't help but want to run my hands through her fur and give her a great big hug. All of them were completely silent - you couldn't hear them coming. Even as they ran past our open air jeep, you hardly heard a sound (despite the high speed that they were going). We managed to see lions three more times/during three more game drives and I was always as moved as I was the first time I saw them. I literally could not take my eyes off of them or get close enough. At one point, I crawled on the floor of the jeep to get closer. They were magnificent. They got so close, they brushed up against the truck. The day after we returned, we dropped by bluboho. I mentioned to the two girls working how amazing it was and how much of an impact the lions had on me. One of them said, if you like them, you will LOVE this Pyrrha. And there it was - the Pyrrha with the lion face on it. I couldn't believe it! Of course, I scooped it up. It's amazing how all Pyrrha pieces seem to work out - they come to you exactly the minute that they're supposed to. It was like it was waiting for me. I'm wearing it now. It might be my favourite Pyrrha yet!
