tips to buying an engagement ring

Buying an engagement ring is a magical moment in your life that we want to make easy and special for you. Here are some of our tips for you before buying that perfect ring for that special beauty in your life.

1. The 4 Cs

This system is known as carat, colour, clarity and cut. When going shopping for diamonds, the 4 C's will allow you to know exactly what diamond quality you are about to purchase.

2. Metals

If she has a jewelry collection of her own, take a look at what metal she's wearing. Most gals have a preference in jewelry metal and like to match their engagement to their current jewelry collection. It also never hurts to ask her BFF what metal she would want her ring in. We find the most common metals are yellow gold, rose gold, white gold and platinum.

3. Ring size

If she hasn't already dropped the hint on what her ring size is, try to find it out in other ways such as asking her friends or even discreetly borrowing one of her rings to be sized. We find the most common ring sizes are 5, 6 and 7.

4. Her style and dream ring

Engagement rings are something you wear everyday and you want it to capture your lovers style. Surprise her with the ring of her dreams by asking her friends or trusted family members what she likes, seeing what ring photos she's liking on social media (we are all guilty of this) and most importantly if she talks about it to you be sure to write it all down later so you don't forget!

5. Know your sweet spot

The key questions we typically ask for people looking for bridal are: budget, timeline, materials (e.g. if you know they definitely want a certain metal or stone) and reference photos. This gives us a sense of exactly what to show you or launch into custom plans!
